The Hackitt Report, the Social Housing White Paper, the Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023, and the Building Safety Act 2022 are fundamental to the future of social housing. Together, they establish the new regulatory and safety framework, setting out clear principles, priorities, and expectations for landlords and placing greater emphasis on accountability, transparency and resident voice. This session provides an opportunity for residents and staff to develop a shared understanding of the key issues arising from these reforms. It explores the common themes emerging from the Hackitt Report, the Social Housing White Paper, the Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023, and the Building Safety Act 2022, and considers what these changes mean in practice for resident engagement.
