Social landlord Orbit has been named a RoSPA Gold Medal award winner for health and safety performance for the eighth consecutive year, as the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) announces the results of its landmark 70th anniversary awards.

The housing association, which manages around 47,000 affordable homes and supports over 100,000 customers across the Midlands, East and South East of England, received the Gold Medal award in recognition of its health and safety performance during 2025.

Now in its 70th year, the RoSPA Awards are the world’s largest health and safety awards programme, attracting 2,000 entries from nearly 60 countries and covering over seven million employees. The Gold Medal award recognises organisations that have achieved eight consecutive Gold awards, placing Orbit among an elite group of safety leaders.

The achievement reflects Orbit’s longstanding commitment to creating safe homes and working environments for colleagues, customers, contractor partners and communities. Safety sits at the heart of Orbit’s 2030 Strategy, which sets out the organisation’s ambition to maintain and improve high quality, safe and affordable homes while delivering an excellent customer experience.

Afzal Ismail, Chief Regulatory and Governance Officer at Orbit, said: “Receiving a RoSPA Gold Medal for the eighth consecutive year is an outstanding achievement and a testament to the commitment of every colleague across Orbit. Safety is not simply a policy for us; it is a core value that shapes every decision we make and every service we deliver. This recognition, particularly in RoSPA’s landmark 70th anniversary year, reflects the dedication of our teams to protecting the people who live and work in our homes every single day.”

Julia Small, RoSPA’s Growth Director, said: “RoSPA congratulates Orbit on its RoSPA Health and Safety Award. The high standards Orbit has achieved are the result of hard work and dedication, of which Orbit should be rightfully proud and which RoSPA is delighted to honour. 2026 is a landmark year for the RoSPA Awards as we reflect on how far workplace safety has come in 70 years. It is because of the commitment of health and safety leaders like Orbit that people today are safer at work than in the past, and sets an inspiring example for the future.”

Orbit will receive its award at RoSPA’s 70th Anniversary Ceremony on 30 June 2026 at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House, London.
