Housing association settle has announced the appointment of an interim chief executive.

Rod Cahill will become its interim Chief Executive for six months from October,

Following the departure of Gavin Cansfield to join Moat, Rod Cahill will hold the role for six months from October and will help the organisation to continue the rollout of its 2030 corporate plan.

Rod has held many senior positions within various organisations across the housing sector, with his career spanning over 24 years.

One of his most notable roles was as chief executive at Catalyst Housing, where he was instrumental in transforming the social landlord from a 2,000-home, London-based housing association, to one with 30,000 homes.

Rod previously worked as an interim chief executive at Sage Housing, where he was able to help the 10,000-home landlord become one of the main for-profit providers of affordable housing in England.

He currently holds a role at Shepherd’s Bush Housing Association as a strategic adviser.

Rod said: “I’m pleased to be joining settle at such a busy and exciting time. I know that the team have been working hard to collate their priorities for the next six years into their new 2030 Corporate Plan and I’m looking forward to finding out how I can help them work towards fulfilling these goals”.

settle’s former Chief Executive, Gavin Cansfield, led the Letchworth Garden City-based landlord for six years and will be leaving his role at the end of September, after settle’s annual staff conference, homefest.

Sally Veitch, settle’s Chair, said: “Gavin has done an incredible job for us and hands the reins to Rod with our organisation ready for the future. We’re looking forward to introducing Rod to the team and getting his input in a number of our ongoing initiatives. With Rod’s plethora of knowledge across the sector, we know he’ll be a great interim addition. Having Rod in the role will allow us to confirm our longer-term recruitment plans.”
