As a local housing authority, we are reviewing our housing allocations policy. We would like to hear from other local authority members how the manage interest from those seeking housing who are not classed as a priority under Part 6 of the Housing Act 1996.

In particular:

  1. Do you have a non-priority category on your housing register/waiting list;
  2. What ‘affordable’ housing options do you offer as an alternative to social housing to non-priority applicants; and
  3. If you have closed your non-priority category, how did you undertake this and how was this justified to your Councillors.

Copies of your allocations policies and procedures would be useful, as well as any reports seeking formal approval of policy changes. Thank you. Ian
