The Housing Management Network is pleased to announce its latest best practice group, giving attendees the opportunity to network and share best practice with fellow housing management professionals.

This session will focus on the challenge of recruiting and retaining talented staff at a time when frontline teams are experiencing a period of significant operational change and external scrutiny.
Delegates will also have the chance to discuss Michael Gove’s proposal to make it compulsory for all managers to hold a formal housing qualification
Topic: Staff Retention and recruitment
The housing sector, like many other industries, is struggling with the challenge of recruiting and retaining staff.

But the nature of the sector’s struggle is unique. Many tenants are struggling to make ends meet in the wake of the cost-of-living crisis and housing management teams are doing all they can to help, but with limited resources available, that’s often not enough.

Michael Gove has also recently announced that housing qualifications will become mandatory for managers in the sector.

So, how do we keep staff morale high in these difficult times and attract new talent to the sector?

This best practice group will discuss the challenge of recruitment and retention of talented staff and the professionalisation of the sector.

The session provides members with the opportunity to discuss issues and share best practice in a confidential setting.

This session will be facilitated by Bobbie Hough, and take place via zoom.

Why you should come to the best practice group:

·       Great way to find out what others are doing

·       Good, honest and open discussions

·       Sharing best practice and ideas with others in similar roles

·       Acts as a sense-check about what people are doing or thinking of doing.

If you’re new to the network or haven’t attended a best practice group before, this is what your housing colleagues are saying about them:

“Every meeting that I’ve attended has given me a new idea to take away or helped me understand how I could improve my service”

“The best practice groups have been really useful. They offer reassurance on our processes, new ideas and a chance to meet new and familiar colleagues working in housing”

“A safety net to ensure nothing is forgotten or overlooked. So many things change in legislation or best practice it’s good to hear what others are doing to challenge your own thought process”.

“The best practice groups are fantastic. I’ve been inspired by many of the shared ideas, information and knowledge that colleagues bring”

Best practice groups are a great way of engaging with your network/hub members.

We look forward to seeing you there!
