With recent statistics indicating that more than half of social housing households include someone considered vulnerable, housing managers are increasingly tasked with navigating complex needs and providing targeted support.

This demographic includes residents facing mental health challenges, physical disabilities, domestic abuse, and social isolation, all of which present barriers to accessing essential services and support.

A wider awareness of these challenges has prompted housing associations to adopt more comprehensive and holistic approaches.

Recent initiatives include implementing support services like welfare calls, increased partnership working with local health and social care services, and creating inclusive community programs like ‘virtual youth clubs’ and volunteer befriending schemes that promote engagement and well-being.

Effective communication and a deeper understanding of legal and ethical responsibilities are also key in safeguarding these residents and ensuring their voices are heard.

This session will provide members with the opportunity to discuss and share the opportunities and challenges they are facing around vulnerabilities and to share best practice in a confidential setting.

Why you should come to the best practice group:

    • Great way to find out what others are doing
    • Good, honest and open discussions
    • Sharing best practice and ideas with others in similar roles
    • Acts as a sense-check about what people are doing or thinking of doing.

Best practice groups are a great way of engaging with your network/hub members.

We look forward to seeing you there!
