Topic: Inclusive Leadership

The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Network is pleased to announce its latest best practice group.

Best practice groups are free to members and are a fantastic opportunity to hear about what’s happening in the sector and network with fellow housing professionals.

As always, the session will be facilitated by Colin Heyman, and take place via zoom.

Why you should come to the best practice group:

·       Great way to find out what others are doing

·       Good, honest and open discussions

·       Sharing best practice and ideas with others in similar roles

·       Acts as a sense-check about what people are doing or thinking of doing.

The topic for January’s Best Practice Group is Inclusive Leadership. To improve Diversity and Inclusion within our organisations, the leaders in the organisation need to be committed, and they can show their commitment through Inclusive Leadership. Many leaders would like to be Inclusive Leaders but few are. Most of those who would like to be don’t understand what behaviours model Inclusive Leadership. Come to the Best Practice Group for an insight into what Inclusive Leadership is and how you can support your leaders to develop their ability to be Inclusive Leaders.

As usual the majority of the Best Practice group will be taken up with the issues participants bring, that they wish to discuss. Bring your questions, challenges and successes about Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and get insights into those issues from other participants who may be facing similar situations. Together we can improve our practice.

  • Our facilitator

Colin Heyman has worked as a trainer, consultant and coach in equality and diversity for over 20 years, and has worked with small companies, large public sector organisations, and third sector organisations, including housing associations. Colin is the Lead Consultant for the HQN Equality, Diversity and Inclusion network. Amongst other things, Colin specialises in supporting a network of Diversity Champions to be change agents, and bring about change within their organisation, and in work on white privilege and allyship. Through his work, Colin hopes to bring about improved practice in equality and diversity, help people to realise that equality, diversity and Inclusion (EDI) permeates most of what we do, get the issues discussed and enable people to feel comfortable about debating these important issues.
