A social landlord has appointed a new chair to its management board.

Grŵp Cynefin has confirmed Tim Jones as the new chair, who succeeds Carys Edwards, who came to the end of her three-year term last week.

Tim has held various roles on boards nationally and at UK level, with expertise working with stakeholders from a wide range of fields.

His appointment was confirmed at the company’s AGM last week. A Welsh speaker, who lives in Llanbedr DC, Ruthin, he is currently serving as chair of Grŵp Cynefin’s subsidiary company, Canllaw’s Board of Management.

Grŵp Cynefin owns and manages 4,000 homes in all six north Wales counties and north Powys.  It also has two subsidiaries, Canllaw and Conwy and Denbighshire Care and Repair, and Gorwel, which provides support services in the field of domestic abuse and homelessness prevention.

Mel Evans, Interim Chief Executive of Grŵp Cynefin, said: “I’d like to thank Carys Edwards who has now come to the end of her term as Chair and Board Member, for her years of service to Grŵp Cynefin.

“Tim is an excellent appointment for the group. His experience and vision will help drive us forward with energy and positivity.”

My association with the organisation goes back several years and I know its values and the massive contribution it has made to the community. The priority for me is to make sure Grŵp Cynefin is supported by a strong and robust Board of Management, so that it continues to provide excellent services for its tenants and customers.

“I want to make sure too that it continues to be great employer, supporting and developing its staff and attracting new talent.

“This a period of transition for Grŵp Cynefin and I look forward to leading the Board as we head towards our ten-year milestone next year. I have great faith in the team here and strongly believe that we will achieve great things.”
