The lives of homeless people across Greater Manchester and Lancashire are being changed for the better by a partnership between social impact investor HSPG and supported accommodation provider Ready4Home.

Three sisters who were referred to Ready4Home in December 2023 after fleeing domestic violence and persecution, have been supported by the partnership to stay together as a family unit in safe accommodation.

Support workers helped them access counselling and register with their local GP and dentist as well as joining in community activities to help them build their new lives. All three are now in full-time employment.

Since it was set up in 2020, the partnership has helped house 2,300 homeless people.

The aim of the partnership is to give homeless people and those facing homelessness the best possible chance of managing a successful home and avoiding a return to life on the streets or living in unstable housing situations in the future.

Together they are now responsible for managing 550 homes across the North West, with more than 1,050 in the pipeline.

HSPG’s ongoing role is making sure all these properties are safe and compliant, auditing the support delivered and monitoring tenant satisfaction, as well as assisting with rent and service charge setting and engaging with local authorities and commissioners.

“Helping vulnerable people into safe homes and working with them to address the root causes of homelessness is essential for building up the confidence and skills they need to rebuild sustainable lives,” said Paula White, CEO of Ready4Home.

“Our partnership with HSPG is helping us deliver this vital work across the North West and we have an additional 1,050 homes we’ll be providing in Salford, Chorley, Preston, South Ribble and Wigan which will enable us to help even more vulnerable people in our communities.”

David Searle, HSPG’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “HSPG was established to make a real difference in the world and the communities we serve. Our work with the Ready4Home team has done exactly that and as we reflect on the last four years of working together, we know that there is more to achieve.

“The team at Ready4Home do an incredible job in towns and cities across the North West and it has been rewarding to support their progress. We look forward to many more years of partnership.”
