MP for North East Derbyshire, Lee Rowley, has been appointed as Minister for Housing and Planning in England.

He becomes the fourth person to take the role in 2022 alone, with Christopher Pincher, Stuart Andrew and Marcus Jones all taking stints in the hot seat.

On his appointment, Rowley said he was “delighted” adding that he has: “a big job ahead to further help raise standards & service across the sector, to improve how planning works for local communities and, vitally, to empower more people achieve their dream of home ownership.”

It comes weeks after new Prime Minister Liz Truss appointed Simon Clarke as Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.

As with Clarke, Rowley has said very little on housing.
