Notting Hill Genesis have appointed Elly Hoult as its new group director of assets and sustainability, responsible for the upkeep of homes and helping the organisation become greener.

Elly has been covering a similar role on an interim basis for the past few months, but this new role has a much stronger focus on sustainability.

Kate Davies, Chief Executive of Notting Hill Genesis, said: “Elly’s new role reflects the vital need for renewed attention to the fabric and safety of our homes and for executive-level responsibility for the green agenda, which is a growing priority across the housing sector.

“Women are traditionally under-represented at more senior levels, so I’m also happy that Elly’s appointment plays a part in redressing that imbalance as part of our wider commitment to improving diversity at the very top of our organisation.”

Elly has previously worked for housing associations such as a2Dominion and Orbit Group and sits on the board of the Chartered Institute of Housing, the Green Spaces Advisory Board and the National Housing Federation EDI steering group.

Since joining Notting Hill Genesis she has also been business improvement director and programme director overseeing the integration post-merger.

Elly said: “We are a large housing association with more than 66,500 homes and it is vitally important we do all we can to ensure our homes are safe and well-maintained.

“This is a challenge for any landlord of our size but it’s one I am looking forward to tackling as I’m well aware how important it is to our residents to have a home they are proud of.

“Sustainability is a huge part of the work we are doing now, and in the future, with ambitious plans for all our homes to have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) of C or above by 2030, while working towards the net-carbon zero challenge. We are making great progress as an organisation and a sector, and I look forward to helping drive these vital changes.”
