Grand Union Housing Group has announced it is to be work with regional public health teams across Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes to “create a blueprint for a new way of working between health and housing”.

The approach is designed to help tackle health inequalities through partnership working to improve access to, and engagement with, a range of public health services.

Grand Union’s Chief Executive, Aileen Evans, said: “We have recently funded research with HACT (Housing Associations’ Charitable Trust) that provides an insight into this work and the opportunities for closer partnerships at a place-based level.

“The research considers the environment across the health and housing sectors and describes how the public health teams are working with local housing associations and other agencies to deliver public health objectives, and drive change by positively influencing the health and housing strategy and policy.

“Our mission at Grand Union is to build stronger communities and better lives and this partnership work will be key to that, helping to deliver sustainable, thriving communities and better outcomes for residents of Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes.”
