Michael Gove has been sacked by Boris Johnson, as the political turmoil continues in Westminster.

He took the position less than six months ago and has introduced the Social Housing Regulation Bill, the PRS White Paper and seen building safety legislation through parliament.

He’s been praised by many for getting much of the leasehold issue sorted, including beginning to act on issues of disrepair.

The news follows Gove apparently telling Boris Johnson he needed to resign. It also comes just hours after Housing Minister, Stuart Andrew, resigned his post.

It has not yet been revealed who will be taking on the role, which also includes the government’s flagship Levelling Up agenda. News from Westminster suggests that the Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill Committee, which was due to be examine the bill today (07/07), will now not sit due to ministers resigning their posts.
