Transgender is a broad term that can be used to describe people whose gender identity is different from the gender they were thought to be when they were born. “Trans” is often used as shorthand for transgender.

Understanding what it is like to be transgender can be hard, especially if you have never met a transgender person.

Transgender issues are very high profile at the moment with transgender people are often being attacked by politicians, social media and on the streets.

This practical workshop raises awareness and explores the role that housing providers can play both in the workplace and in service provision.

    The session will cover:

    • How can you support transgender colleagues, residents, tenants and customers?
    • Why do people share their pronouns at the bottom of their emails?
    • What are all these different terms, non-binary, genderfluid, genderqueer and so on?
    • How can my organisation become trans-inclusive?
    • How can you challenge transphobia?

Essential for all customer facing, operational staff as well as those working in policy and strategy, HR and training and diversity.
