The UK GDPR details several rights retained by data subjects concerning their personal data. One of these is the Right of Access. All of us have the right to ask an organisation whether or not they are processing our personal information. We can also ask them for copies of our personal information. This is better known as a Subject Access Request or SAR.
This session provides an overview of Subject Access Requests and what’s required of organisations when such a request is made. It will also dig a little deeper and consider the practicalities of managing and processing SARs including timescales, request logs, searching for the data, providing copies of the data, redacting data, imposing exemptions and issuing refusal notices, as well as how to respond to complaints.
