Managing houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) brings additional legal responsibilities, property standards and operational challenges. With shared accommodation playing an important role in meeting housing need, landlords must understand their obligations. This practical course explores HMO regulations, licensing, safety requirements and effective management approaches.

From licensing and fire safety to property standards and day-to-day tenancy management, HMOs require a different approach from traditional residential accommodation. Failure to understand and meet these additional responsibilities can expose landlords to enforcement action, financial penalties and significant risks to residents.

This course provides a practical overview of the requirements involved in managing shared accommodation, helping delegates understand their obligations, identify potential compliance issues and establish effective management arrangements that support safe, well-maintained properties and positive resident experiences.
