Gas safety remains one of the highest risk compliance areas for landlords. Despite its high profile, poor gas compliance is still featuring regularly in RSH judgements

Gas safety remains one of the most common reasons for self-referral to the Regulator of Social Housing. The rules are clear, but the practical challenges persist:

    • Getting the basics right and staying compliant
    • Managing data and recordkeeping
    • Gaining access to tenants’ homes.

Some of these challenges, such as gaining access to tenants’ homes, appear to be on the increase.

This masterclass will keep you up to speed with compliance, legislation, case law, AI and technology  – as well as best practice.

    What will be covered?

    • The latest legislation and case law, including guidance on compliance and practical advice on no-access issues (injunctions, EPA actions and forced entry)
    • Best practice on overcoming ‘no access’ issues – including HQN’s recent research
    • Lessons to be learned from RSH judgements and Ombudsman spotlight reports
    • Governance arrangements – ensuring your policies, procedures and systems are up to date and provide the necessary reporting and assurance
    • The fundamentals and increasing importance of accurate data and recordkeeping
    • KPIs, monitoring and reporting – what matters, where to focus and when
    • How to get the best from your contractor or DLO – ensuring the relationship delivers results
    • Current best practice, including the benefits of SMART technology
    • Up to date technical information
    • Managing and mitigating risks
    • MOT-style approach to gas servicing and maintenance – increasing evidence of improved VfM.
