Building Safety – the role of boards, elected members and executive teams

“Boards must ensure that they adequately understand all legislative requirements relating to health and safety compliance, including their duties and responsibilities with regard to fire and building safety under the new regulatory regime. Boards must ensure that they have comprehensive and effective building safety systems and programmes in place to provide assurance that tenants remain safe”.

The most recent sector risk profile places a clear responsibility on boards in relation to the new building safety regime introduced in the Fire Safety Act 2021 and the Building Safety Act 2022.

  • Take the lead in driving a safety-first culture across the organisation
