Suitable for:       All What does this mean?

This virtual training is aimed at frontline workers who frequently go into residents’ properties. It raises awareness and knowledge of the property condition issues they need to look out for.

The course covers the HHSRS itself, the broad legal framework under which tenants, (contract holders), and visitors can bring claims against a landlord and the enforcement powers used by local housing authorities.  It is particularly relevant to Welsh community landlords in the light of the impending changes to be introduced with effect from the 1 December 2022 by the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016.  The obligation for properties to be fit for human habitation will broaden the opportunities for claims to be brought and there is also the issue of rent not being payable when a property is unfit for human habitation.
