    Why attend?

    • Become better equipped to support vulnerable tenants
    • Understand the importance of effective Care Act referrals for tenants
    • Improve your ability to communicate with social service colleagues.

As the demand for social services support grows and local authority resources are more and more stretched, many tenants are left without appropriate care and support. Housing professionals are often left trying to cope without the necessary training or resources. They struggle to identify the support tenants need and knowing where and when a Care Act duty should kick in.

Housing professionals need to know what to look out for and the appropriate action to take. They need to understand how health and social services operate and the language to use to be able to clearly communicate tenants’ needs.

Join HQN expert Mel Cant for a focused virtual breakfast session to give you a solid baseline of knowledge from which to build your partnership working with social services and help you secure the support your tenants need to successfully sustain their tenancies.

    What will be covered:

    • What the Care Act duty is
    • What invokes a Care Act assessment
    • What types of Care Act issues housing staff may come across
    • What language housing staff need to learn and understand to clearly communicate to social services colleagues
    • Options for managing referrals effectively.

    Essential for:

    • Directors, managers and officers in housing services
    • Everyone working in a customer facing role – customer services, estate services, repairs and maintenance, tenancy and housing management
    • Everyone responsible for tenancy sustainment – income recovery teams, tenancy support teams, housing management teams, supported housing
    • Everyone who wants a quick introduction on the basics around the Care Act and social services support and how to get it.
