Building strategies – understanding regional housing markets

Details

Building strategies

From the macro to the micro – understand where the UK housing market is going to build your local development strategies.

HQN is teaming up with property intelligence specialists Hometrack for a series of events to help housing associations and local authorities build successful development strategies.

The Hometrack team will provide the lowdown on where the UK housing market is headed over the next 12 months and beyond – nationally, regionally and locally.

Every event will be tailored specifically to the region in which it is taking place with Hometrack tapping into its extensive data bank to provide expert insight and guidance.

And to help make the day as useful as possible, Hometrack are keen to hear from delegates in advance about the local property markets they would like information on - and the specific development challenges they face. You can send your questions to jon.land@hqnetwork.co.uk

Key themes to be explored include:

  • Predictions for the UK housing market in 2018
  • Analysis of affordability, rents and price trends in your local area
  • Learning from key development players
  • The local authority perspective on land and planning issues
  • Development opportunities and risks.

You will also get to hear from key development players including housing associations and local authorities with HQN chief executive Alistair McIntosh overseeing proceedings.

With the government promising to build 300,000 homes a year by the end of the current Parliament, housing providers are under pressure to develop across all tenures.

But as RPs look to take a more commercial approach, do they have a comprehensive understanding of their local housing market to be able to compete in the same space as established private developers?

Local authorities are also expected to play their part – not only in terms of land and planning but by building affordable homes again.

Regardless of what type of properties are being developed or where in the country they are built, being able to access accurate and up-to-date information on key factors such as land availability, house prices, affordability and rents is essential. These events will help provide you with some answers.
