For directors, heads of service and strategic leads in asset management, sustainability and housing strategy, this session explores what the healthy homes agenda means for investment priorities. Learn how evidence, resident insight and partnerships with health and energy services can support earlier intervention.

This session brings together research, policy and fuel poverty expertise to explore what providers should be considering now. We’ll look at how evidence about properties and residents can inform priorities, where earlier intervention could make a difference and what effective partnerships require.

Part of HQN’s Policy into Practice series, helping busy housing professionals keep their knowledge current and consider what policy changes mean for their role and organisation.

    Who you will hear from:

    • Professor Phil Brown, Professor of Housing and Communities, University of Huddersfield, will chair and share lessons from the Healthy Housing Initiative, exploring how research, policy and practice can inform one another
    • Jade Lewis, Chair, Healthy Homes and Buildings Group, will provide a policy horizon scan, distinguishing what is agreed, proposed and being called for, and exploring the implications for landlords
    • Dr Danielle Butler, Head of Development, National Energy Action, will draw on research, lived experience and practical insights to explore cold homes, affordability and how providers and partners can intervene earlier.

The closing discussion will bring these perspectives together: what can providers do now, who needs to be involved and what barriers need addressing?

    What will be covered:

    • A clearer picture of how the Warm Homes Plan and the government’s wider prevention agenda connect housing condition, energy affordability and health
    • How property condition, household insight and vulnerability information can support earlier identification, prioritisation and intervention
    • Where housing, public health and energy partners can work together to prevent harm, with a post-event briefing note setting out what has changed, what it means and next steps.

    Why attend:

Healthy homes are becoming a cross-service issue, not simply an asset-management one. As housing condition, energy affordability, vulnerability and health become more closely connected in policy, landlords need to understand where responsibility, data and partnerships need to join up.

    Who should attend?

Aimed primarily at managers, heads of service and strategic leads in social housing with responsibility for:

    • Assets, repairs and maintenance
    • Health and safety and compliance
    • Housing strategy, policy and partnerships
    • Sustainability, energy and retrofit
    • Housing management, customer insight and vulnerability.

Also relevant to directors and senior leaders with oversight of these areas.
