Private rented sector policy update (74)

Welcome to HQN’s latest PRS update focussing on the all the major developments in the private rented sector (PRS) in the last month.

In this update we feature major developments linked to the government’s reforms of the PRS. First, we cover the roll out of the PRS database which is a prominent element of the Renters’ Rights Act (RRA). Private landlords will need to have registered on the database between March and November next year depending on the region where they are based. The government has also committed to introduce a register for short-term lets by March 2027. Generation Rent is already calling for reform to the landlord register pointing to eight gaps in the policy which need to be addressed.
