Homes England has announced the 33 organisations that will receive a share of nearly £10 billion in grant to deliver much needed social and affordable homes across the country.

From an extremely competitive field, Homes England says the funding is being awarded to the “highest quality bids”. This means that across England (excluding London), 33 providers will receive funding totalling £9.58 billion to invest in new social and affordable housing.

Nearly two-thirds of the homes built through the programme will be for social rent.

For the first time ever, three councils will also be awarded ‘strategic partnership’ status with Homes England: Cambridge City Council, Eastleigh Borough Council and Newcastle City Council.

Homes England Chief Executive Amy Rees said: “The strong demand for SAHP funding demonstrates the sector’s ambition to deliver as part of this once-in-a-generation opportunity to come together, alongside partners funded through the programme’s alternative continuous market engagement (CME) route, to deliver thousands of social and affordable homes for people, families and communities across England.

“Our team is absolutely focused on working in close collaboration with our partners alongside regional leaders, mayors and the sector to deliver on government policy and ensure this investment supports the creation of high-quality homes and thriving places that people want and need.”

The strategic partners chosen for the Social and Affordable Homes Programme (SAHP) 2026 to 2036 are:
