Supported Housing (Regulatory Oversight) Act toolkit

The Supported Housing (regulatory Oversight) Act introduces new regulations to tackle poor-quality supported housing and protect residents.

The government’s response to the consultation includes the national standards that providers are likely to need to meet to obtain a licence to provide supported housing in the issuing local authority area. The final standards will be set out in regulations following further consultation, likely to take place in 2026, with the standards and licencing scheme in place by April 2027.

We have used the national standards that have been agreed following consultation along with the experience of organisations we have worked with when providing information to local authority Housing Benefit teams regarding rent, intensive housing management and service charges.
