This session is the last in our popular series on Preparing for Awaab’s Law Phase 2.

Phase 1 of Awaab’s Law already covers all emergency hazards, including dangerous electrical faults and urgent fire-related risks.

However, phase 2 will additionally cover non-emergency, but still ‘significant’, fire and electrical hazards based on the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS), including defective fixed wiring, lack of electrical safety measures and risks of electric shock or fire from installations.

From a fire perspective, phase 2 will focus on:

    • Defective fire doors
    • Unsafe escape routes
    • Smoke alarm failures
    • Serious compartmentation defects
    • Potentially dangerous internal fire risks.

This session will look at the Awaab’s Law-specific processes and systems landlords need to have in place in order to identify and respond quickly to potential fire and electrical hazards.

This session will be relevant for both general needs and specialist housing.
