The Competence and Conduct requirements represent one of the most significant shifts in social housing regulation. They place clear expectations on social housing providers to demonstrate that staff and governing bodies have the right skills, behaviours and oversight to deliver safe, high‑quality services.

With October fast approaching, organisations need to understand not only what they are required to do, but how to embed it meaningfully across teams, roles and cultures.

This timely event brings together the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH), HQN Associate and sector expert Debbie Larner, and customer-facing practitioners to unpack what the Competence and Conduct requirements really mean in practice.

Delegates will leave with practical takeaways to support implementation, including:

    • Approaches to mapping competencies
    • Strengthening governance oversight
    • Designing effective training and assurance frameworks
    • Engaging staff in culture change.

Whether you’re leading organisational readiness or shaping operational delivery, this session will equip you with the insight and tools needed to prepare confidently for October and beyond.

    What will be covered?

    • The purpose and scope of the Competence and Conduct requirements and what’s changing from October
    • How the RSH expects providers to evidence competence, capability and conduct across all roles
    • Practical approaches to mapping competencies and identifying gaps
    • Strengthening governance oversight, assurance and reporting
    • Practitioner perspectives on implementation challenges and good practice.
