The Competence and Conduct Standard will require housing providers “to adopt or develop an appropriate code of conduct and to ensure it is embedded within their organisation”. Find out what good looks like, how to build trust through clear standards, and how to appraise and improve your approach.

On 30 September, the government published their final direction to the RSH on the Competence and Conduct Standard. It confirms that registered providers will be required to “adopt or develop an appropriate code of conduct and to ensure it is embedded within their organisation”. New requirements also require that landlords:

    • Give tenants meaningful opportunities to influence and scrutinise decisions relating to adoption or development of the code of conduct
    • Keep the code of conduct up-to-date and fit for purpose
    • Have made the code of conduct accessible to tenants.

Most housing organisations have a code of conduct but:

    • Is it fit for purpose?
    • Does it drive professional attitudes or behaviours?
    • Is it embedded into management structures and performance management?
    • Has it been developed with input from your residents?
    • Is it accessible?

Join HQN Associates Debbie Larner and Jane Atherton at this focused, practical workshop session on codes of conduct to answer all these questions and more.

    What will be covered:

    • How to ensure that your code of conduct reflects the standards expected under the new Competence and Conduct Standard
    • How to embed the expectations in the code into everyday practice
    • How to effectively engage with residents to develop an effective code of conduct
    • How to manage performance that doesn’t reflect expectations in the code of conduct.

    Why attend?

    • Find out what a fit-for-purpose code of conduct really looks like
    • Understand what aspects of the code you need to engage with residents on and how to do this in a meaningful way
    • Learn how to align it with performance management and appraisal processes
    • Discover how to use it to build a culture of accountability, trust and service excellence.
