Preparations are underway to mark the eighth anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fire, which claimed the lives of 72 people, on Saturday 14 June.

As in previous years, commemorations for the anniversary will be community-led.

Grenfell Tower will be illuminated in green from:
• 7pm Friday 13 June, to 6am on Saturday 14 June
• 7pm to midnight on Saturday 14 June.

72 beams of light will be projected onto the Tower from:
• 8pm to midnight on Saturday 14 June.

Meanwhile, campaign group Grenfell United is inviting the public to join the ‘Silent Walk for the 8th Anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fire’ on 14 June. The walk starts at Notting Hill Methodist Church at 6pm and participants are asked to wear green.

In a statement, Grenfell United said: “Eight years on. No arrests. No justice. The tower is a stark reminder of what happened that night but the government has decided it’s time to bring it down.

“Walk with us to show them you still stand united with the Grenfell Community. They want the tower out of sight. But we won’t stop until the criminals are brought to justice.”
