The main provisions under the Building Safety Act 2022 are now in force. Alongside this we have seen the introduction of a new regulatory framework for social housing with a strong focus on safety and quality. Both have significantly changed the landscape of building safety in England.

It is essential that landlords understand all the statutory and regulatory requirements and take on board the important lessons from both Grenfell Tower Inquiry reports.  The safety of residents must be the key priority for all housing providers.

The course will cover:

  • Overview of compliance responsibilities on senior management and boards
  • The regulatory framework for social housing – understanding the requirements of the quality and safety standard
  • Lessons from inspection and TSMs
  • The implications for social housing from the final Grenfell Tower Report (Sept 24)
  • Developing a safety culture
  • The new building safety regime – the role of the Building Safety Regulator
  • Overview of the core requirements in the Building Safety Act 2022
    • Core roles and responsibilities
