Delivering excellent housing services starts with understanding residents, building trust and getting the everyday interactions right. With regulatory expectations placing greater emphasis on professionalism, accountability and resident experience, this practical course explores how housing staff can deliver responsive, respectful and genuinely resident-centred services.

Excellent customer service in social housing is about more than responding to enquiries, meeting service standards or resolving complaints. It requires housing professionals to understand residents’ individual needs and expectations, communicate effectively, take ownership of issues and ensure residents feel listened to, respected and valued.

The Competence and Conduct Standard reinforces the importance of having staff with the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours needed to deliver good-quality services. Alongside the Transparency, Influence and Accountability Standard, it places greater emphasis on listening to residents, responding to their concerns and ensuring their experiences and feedback influence how services are delivered.
