A social landlord is celebrating the near-completion of its greenest ever development, marked by the opening of its show home.

Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG) has built 56 new homes on former Manchester City Council-owned land in Wythenshawe.

The £9.2m mixed tenure development, supported by £2.13m of Homes England funding, consists of 34 affordable rent and 22 shared ownership units, along with a mix of two, three and four-bed homes and six bungalows, two of which are designed specifically for wheelchair users. 48 of the units will be semi-detached and eight detached.

To celebrate the occasion, WCHG invited colleagues, partners, stakeholders and friends to get a sneak peek at the new homes, which include air source heat pumps, photovoltaic panels and electric vehicle charging points (EVP), making them the housing provider’s most sustainable homes with the lowest carbon footprints.

WCHG’s Executive Director of Development, Andrea Lowman, said: “We are delighted to open our show home to the local community and bring much-needed affordable and energy-efficient homes to this wonderful part of Greater Manchester.

“It’s great to see the transformation from the old derelict site into an attractive new housing development to meet and enhance the ever-growing needs of our community.”
