The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has published refreshed asbestos guidance.

According to the HSE, asbestos is the greatest cause of work-related deaths in Great Britain, with around 5,000 people dying every year from asbestos-related diseases, which typically take decades to develop and cannot be cured.

The HSE says it has revised the asbestos pages on its website to simplify navigation and help people easily find the information they need, and has removed outdated content and replaced it with up-to-date, refreshed guidance.

The updated webpages include:

Introduction to asbestos safety
The duty to manage asbestos in buildings
A workers’ guide to asbestos safety
Locations of asbestos and taking the right action

The new content also includes videos for workers on asbestos safety to help them be aware of it and work safely.
