Opinion: Up the Consumers!

It’s not just Covid-19 cases that are increasing exponentially, so too is the number of serious detriment judgements made by the Regulator of Social Housing. In 2012 there was one, last year there were 6 and this year there were 15, according to the Regulator’s latest annual review of the consumer standards.

Opinion: Down but not out

Many years ago, one rainy afternoon in my school library, I came across a copy of Down and out in Paris in London. I had never heard of George Orwell, but I found his descriptions of life on the road, living on the streets, in filthy common lodging houses and the casual wards of workhouses (“the Spike”) absolutely captivating.
