A housing association is offering its customers online group training sessions to help them to maintain their tenancies and support their wellbeing.

Orbit’s courses cover a range of topics, including how to cope in the cost-of-living crisis, how to search for jobs and write job applications, building self-esteem and confidence, and rights and responsibilities as a tenant.

The free-of-charge sessions are delivered ‘live’ via Microsoft Teams by a qualified trainer from Orbit’s Tenancy Sustainment Team, who use a coaching approach in a group setting to help customers work through financial, wellbeing, digital and employment concerns, to improve their chances of successfully managing their tenancy and prevent tenancy failure.

Nicola Kantas, Head of Tenancy Management for Orbit, said: “We hope that these online sessions offer an accessible way for people to get support with developing the life skills that they need to maintain their tenancies and personal wellbeing. By utilising a coaching approach, our aim is to nurture resilience and give people the confidence they need to make lasting changes that improve their quality of life.”

As well as providing direct training sessions, customers can also be referred to Orbit’s Tenancy Sustainment Job Coaches for 1-2-1 bespoke coaching, or the Better Days programme which offers free services to customers on a range of issues including financial inclusion, mental health, employment, skills and digital training.
