Grenfell

The publication of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry’s final report into the fire that killed 72 people has been delayed for a third time.

It was hoped that the report would be finally published before the disaster’s 7th anniversary on 14 June, but the team now expects to release it later this summer.

The report was initially expected towards the end of 2023 before being pushed back to May 2024 and then to early summer 2024.

Expanding on the new delay, the team said: “We have had to write to about 250 people and the process has been significantly larger and more complex than we had originally expected.

“Although it is now reaching its final stages, it means that we shall not be in a position to publish the report before the next anniversary of the fire, as we had originally hoped.”

The inquiry’s phase one report, which focused on the events during the night of fire, was published in October 2019. The second and long-awaited final report is focused on the events leading up to the catastrophe.
