    What you’ll be doing

    We are looking for a Welfare Benefits Advisor to provide housing benefit and other benefits advice to residents and employees, to maximise residents’ income and increase their ability to afford and sustain their tenancy.

      • Provide advice, information and training to CHP teams on the welfare benefits system to enable them to provide suitable advice to customers and applicants in line with welfare reform.
      • To assist applicants with completion of Housing Benefit claims, universal credit and other welfare benefit applications and estimate their likely entitlement.
      • Develop effective working relationships with other local sources of welfare benefits advice and work with them to provide residents with advice and support in claiming all welfare benefits.
      • Act as an advocate and represent customers at housing benefit and welfare benefit tribunals.
      • Full driving licence and use of own car for business travel will be required.

    What we’re looking for

      • Evidence of attainment of good literacy and numeracy at A-level or equivalent.
      • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
      • Background in Housing Benefit or welfare rights and Universal Credit.
      • Experienced in dealing face to face with vulnerable households, preferably with experience of visiting customers in their homes.
      • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.
