    We have a fantastic opportunity for a Rents & Service Charge Officer to join our expanding team at Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG).

    Reporting to the Rents & Service Charge Manager this role will be responsible for maximising income recovery for WCHG focusing on rents and service charges for tenants, shared owners and leaseholders. You will calculate service charge budgets and actuals and work as part of a team to provide a high-quality service to all customers with regard to their service charge.

    What will you be doing?   

    • Provide front-line rental income services and advice to existing and potential tenants, or their representatives.
    • To be responsible, as part of a Housing Management team, for providing a responsive and pro-active service to residents in general needs, supported and sheltered housing.
    • ​Pro-actively work with agencies and colleagues to ensure tenants’ income is maximised.

    Your main responsibilities will include:

    • Be responsible for the collection and management of rental income against set targets and procedures.
    • Handle enquiries from tenants, keeping them informed at all times of progress in relation to their accounts and queries.
    • Be aware of current legislation relating to housing and Welfare Reform, and how access to welfare benefits may affect ability to pay rent.
    • ​Identify households in need of specialist support and work collaboratively with the Welfare Benefit, Tenancy Support services or wider agencies to help tenants to sustain their tenancy.

    In order to undertake this role successfully you will need the following key skills knowledge & experience;

    • Experience of working in a busy finance environment in a similar role
    • AAT qualified or activley working towards qualification
    • Experience of service charge work
    • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload
    • ​Effective Communication skills i.e. the ability to communicate Rents and Service charges clearly to both customers and colleagues whilst ensuring the customer’s perspective is understood.
