Managed Migration is a mandatory process that will be rolled out to all areas by end March 2024.

As claimants are selected for the formal managed migration, there are a number of letters and notices they should receive. When they receive their UC migration letter they need to act and not ignore it. They will have three months to switch.

Feedback from the early Discovery Phase showed:

  • 81% claimed by their original migration deadline
  • 13% claimed between their original and extended deadlines
  • 6% claimed after their extended deadline (loss of financial protection)
  • 14% applied by telephone due to problems making a claim online
  • 36% contacted the helpline for support.

The high levels of vulnerability among social housing tenants, mean we have grave concerns about the risks posed to people with mental health problems; not just the ones who have been protected from migration until 2028. In the worst-case scenario, people with mental health problems may fail to successfully make the move to UC and lose transitional protection, or the vital lifeline of their benefit income altogether.

Find out about the process in this workshop.

  • Testimonials
    • Really valuable being allowed the time at the end to converse with other attendees so thank you. This was incredibly useful and not a privilege usually afforded at courses in my experience – really fab/concise course.
