Jo Ballman is a long standing HQN associate who specialises in regulation and governance with a particular focus on In-Depth Assessments (IDAs). Jo has been a consultant for more than seven years working during which time she has worked with over 100 registered providers of various sizes and types including newly established ones and some who have been struggling. She has guided over 50 boards and executive teams on the RSH’s expectations of IDAs undertaking document reviews, mock interviews and observing meetings.

She has helped boards on their regulation journey covering all aspects of governance including creating frameworks, policies and papers and, where required, support with voluntary action plans to help the board move to a compliant judgement. She takes a very practical approach and works closely with executives, governance leads and members to embed the required approaches.

Prior to becoming a consultant Jo worked as a director at two large housing groups where she had responsibility for governance and regulation as well as risk, performance and data.

Jo is a chartered surveyor who started her career as a development surveyor progressing to development director at one RP before switching to the world of regulation and all it entails.
