Job Description

We are looking for a customer oriented IT Service Desk Techncian to join our IT Service Desk team, supplying ICT to Stevenage and East Herts council as a shared service. This is an excellent time to join the council ICT service, as we are looking to make considerable changes to our ICT and Digital provision.

The post holders role will be to act as the first point contact and provide technical assistance to staff in use of the council’s IT services. You will be responsible for performing remote troubleshooting and / or visiting our customers at their desks to determin appropriate solutions based on the information provided by the customer.

The Ideal candidate will need to be able to accurately capture, handle and record all calls and information received by the IT Service Desk team, with the goal of resolving them in the fastest possible time on behalf of the customer.

Service desk staff are expected to demonstrate strong customer services skills, accompanied by good IT technical skills, an ability to think laterally and follow procedures. You will be expected to maintain a positive and upbeat attitude when handling calls and to empathise with customers.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will be expected to work to a regular shift pattern working to ensure support is available between 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday. Working on a rota bais covring the IT Service Desk of Daneshill House in Stevenage and Wallfields in Hertford. The post holder will also be expected to occasionally travel to and provide support to staff working in any of the sites providing services across Stevenage and East Herts Councils. Preferably we are looking for a candidate who can can drive, with their own vehicle to travel between sites and cover the rota pattern.

  • Pay: £19,945 - £22,462 Annually
