Can you work co-operatively with local residents groups and VCS organisations in building stronger communities across Stevenage?
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Community Development team for a new Community Development Officer (South Stevenage) to join us. Working with a skilled team of community development practitioners, and allied partners you will be the public facing lead community officer for the South of the town.
You will play a key role in the improvement of residents’ quality of life in Stevenage and will contribute to developing a co-operative, sustainable and more socially cohesive community, through direct community engagement, community capacity building, specialist support and proactive co-operative partnerships.
To be successful in this role you will have been educated to a good standard including GCSE’s C grade or above alongside evidence of further and higher education that meets the requirements for the role. You will also have proven experience of working within local communities, building relationships, improving outcomes and co-ordinating consultation, mapping and resident engagement.
You will be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team, deal calmly and confidently with emotional situations and have the ability to understand the needs and perceptions of residents.
A full UK driving licence (with access to own vehicle) is desirable.
