Housing association appoints new Board Chair

Calico Homes has welcomed Bill Lacey as their new Chair of the Board.

He will begin his role in November 2020 after being a non-executive board member at Calico Homes since April 2018.

Lacey brings with him "more than 30 years’ experience as a board member with many organisations and has a vast understating of issues such as homelessness, wellbeing services for vulnerable people, community development and tenant engagement".

He also has expansive experience of working within social housing, spanning over 40 years. He has spent 16 years working with local authorities and 26 years with registered providers operating in the North West of England.

Alongside this, Lacey was also previously Chair of the Board for Liverpool Mutual Homes. During this position, he moved the board towards achieving a stock improvement programme and assisted with the creation of Housing Maintenance Services (HMS).

On his appointment, Lacey said: “I am looking forward to working with other board members in my new role. I’ve always admired The Calico Group values and their visions for growth and investment, both in our Burnley heartlands and the wider North West.

"The activities which the Group are involved in make a real difference to the lives of so many people and I am proud to have the opportunity to play some part in this.”

Anthony Duerden, CEO of The Calico Group, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Bill as our new Chair of the Board at Calico Homes. His wealth of experience will bring a new dynamic to our board and help to elevate our existing plans and ideas to create a brighter future for both the business and our customers.”
