Universal Credit uplift to be extended by six months

The £20 uplift in Universal Credit is set to be continued for another six months, with the current arrangement set to end on 31 March.

The news comes from ITV, who say that the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, has "abandoned his hope of ending" the uplift.

Reports suggest Boris Johnson will sign off the continued uplift.

Pressure has been mounting on the government to keep the £20, with the cross-party Work and Pensions Committee urging government to keep it as well as the Trussell Trust.
