  1. Estate Services Best Practice Group

    Details

    Free to members

Join us for the next Estate Services Best Practice Group and find out more about an estates project successfully engaging residents.

Hear from Josh Murray, Environmental Contracts Manager, and Sandy O’Grady, Customer Involvement Officer, at Blackpool Coastal Housing on their green and clean warden service.

All 60 active tenant wardens are spread throughout the landlord’s neighbourhoods and provide valuable feedback on aspects of the grounds maintenance and cleaning contracts. Feedback is collated monthly, taken on board and acted on.

The session comes at a time when the importance of listening to tenants and involving them has been emphasised by the Social Housing White Paper. This informal event will also allow time for discussion and knowledge sharing on other key topics.

*Please note that places are limited to two per organisation. Further bookings will be put on a waiting list for places.

From roadmap to reality – Calling Asset Managers to the table!

Across the sector, organisations are responding to climate change. The messages from government might be frustratingly unclear and inconsistent, but we know that housing has to face this issue, come what may.

Many of you are already a long way into your carbon roadmaps. Some have already completed them. Some have barely begun.

But what happens after the sustainability teams have done their assessments? How do we turn these roadmaps into reality?

Our new climate change best practice group hopes to bring the sector's asset management staff into a conversation with their colleagues who are working on sustainability.

We've planned for change – now it's time to make the change.

Our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion is crucial, especially in times of crisis. The effects of Covid-19 are being felt across the UK, but the crisis is not one that has been experienced equally by all and some communities will be affected more disproportionately than others....

Working from home, restricted face to face contact and agile working have presented new challenges but also opened new doors to the way we communicate with each other.

Join the conversation with Colin Heyman, our HQN associate who will lead the session to find out what your priorities are for the year to come.

  10. Building safety clinic – Fire safety defects and EWS1 Forms

    Details

    Free to members

With building safety and the cladding crisis taking up a lot of time and energy for social housing providers, we are pleased to announce a new service to HQN members.

Over the next 12 months, one of our top legal experts, Neave Maguire, from Norton Rose Fulbright LLP, will be available online to help with your problems, queries, and questions on the practical and operational side of obtaining EWS1 forms, pursuing developers or contractors, the procurement of fire engineers and/or assist with the appointment of a design team to carry out the remedial scheme.

For the first clinic on Monday, 6th December, Neave will be available on Zoom from 9.00am to 6.00pm for you to bring along your problems, queries and questions for her to discuss and, hopefully, answer.  The day will be broken into 20 minute slots to allow time for an in-depth discussion.

Due to the nature of the advice our legal expert will be providing, Norton Rose Fulbright will need to carry out a conflict check to ensure they are not acting for any of the parties involved. A form will be sent to participants to complete in advance of their session at the clinic.

If you are unable to book your place at the first session, the second building safety clinic will take place on Monday 7 March 2022.

To book your place, please fill in the below form and we will confirm your timeslot.
