    Six Town Housing is an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO), which was set up in 2005 to manage the housing stock owned by Bury Council. We provide a wide range of services to around 8000 homes in Bury and aspire to deliver great services that improve the quality of our customers’ homes and neighbourhoods.

    We have a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about domestic energy efficiency and minimizing the risk of fuel poverty to the social housing tenants of Bury to join us as our Home Energy Manager.

    Six Town Housing is committed to reducing the carbon footprint of Six Town Housing’s and Bury Council’s existing housing stock.

    As the Home Energy Manager you will contribute to this commitment by developing, managing, coordinating and implementing Six Town Housing’s energy efficiency and carbon reduction strategies. You will also have the knowledge and experience to deliver domestic whole house retrofit improvement projects in line with PAS2035 principles.
    You will be able to research, source and acquire funding and grants in close liaison with the wider Assets Directorate to further energy efficiency projects for our customers.

    Your Line Manager: Business Manager – Sustainability & Investment

    Why you are here: To develop, manage, coordinate and implement Six Town Housing’s energy efficiency and carbon reduction strategies to reduce the carbon footprint of Six Town Housing’s and Bury Council’s existing housing stock, increase energy efficiency and minimise the risk of fuel poverty to Six Town Housing’s customers. Manage the delivery of energy and carbon reduction projects from inception to completion using a mixture of in-house staff, external consultants and contractors. To ensure Six Town Housing’s energy efficiency and carbon reduction strategy for homes and company assets remains current, makes the most of opportunities to lever in external funding and keeps pace with technological advances within the sector.

    As a Manager you will:

    9. Lead employee relations processes, such as investigations, disciplinary & grievance, performance & absence management and recruitment, ensuring a fair and consistent approach inline with our policies and procedures.
    10. Obtain, collate and analyse statistical information to take operational decisions and report on key performance indicators as required. Plan team workloads ensuring the team and individual performance targets are met; manage any areas of underperformance
    11. Role model our values, and ways of working and ensure they are embedded across your team. Act as an ambassador for STH and promote the organisation and its services
    12. Act in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirement and follow STH polices and procedures
    13. Continually review performance and skills of team members to identify development needs to ensure your team have the right skills.
    14. Contribute to the management of the team budget, ensuring resources are allocated and spent accordingly, value for money is secured and new funding/ business opportunities are sought and secured.
    15. Undertake any other duties and tasks as may reasonably be required.

    As the Home Energy Manager you will:

    1. Validate and report on the quantity and quality of energy related information within Six Town housing’s asset management databases and associated systems to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
    2. Formulation and validation of planned energy improvement programmes, budgets and component specifications for based on stock condition and asset intelligence data.
    3. Capture, store, collate and maintain suitable energy data in close liaison with the Asset Management team.
    4. Research, source and acquire funding and grants for energy efficiency projects and carbon reduction in close liaison with the wider Asset directorate and other divisional teams as necessary.
    5. Identify and highlight households in or at risk of fuel poverty using asset management and stock condition data, housing indicators and third-party information (e.g., deprivation indices).
    6. Manage the promotion of domestic energy efficiency by providing advice to tenants and other customers through a variety of channels and media.
    7. Establish and manage strategic relationships and partnerships with external agencies for the purposes of good practice and current guidance on energy efficiency issues.
    8. Implement actions to improve carbon reduction, energy efficiency and other energy conservation activities including the review of specifications to ensure improvements are being made.
    9. Integrate energy efficiency and carbon reduction projects with other activities in Asset Management programmes based on cost/benefit analysis and impact assessment.
    10. Monitor and report on project performance against target for energy efficiency and carbon reduction projects.
    11. Assist the Council’s climate change lead in the delivery of commitments within the Council’s Climate Change and Air Quality Strategy and ensure Housing Management complies with national and European energy related legislation and policy.

    You Are:
    •Experienced in delivering whole house retrofit improvement projects in line with PAS2035 principals

    • Experienced in the creation and implementation of energy performance and carbon reduction strategies across a diverse housing stock.
    • Have experience of working with asset management databases, datasets and associated IT systems.
    • Able to use asset, energy, financial and third-party data to identify properties and households at risk of fuel poverty.
    • Has knowledge of the national funding and grant environment for energy efficiency and carbon reduction projects and schemes.
    • Has knowledge of current practices and techniques available to improve the energy efficiency and carbon outputs of the built environment (retrofit techniques).
    • Are educated to HND/HNC Building Studies or Building Surveying or equivalent senior level experience
    • Experienced working within approved budgets and formulating planned programmes of work to a diverse portfolio of residential properties and schemes.
    • Have a proven track record in sustainability / energy management or related field
