  3. The Can Do Sector: Stepping up in 2021

    Details

The challenges 2020 have thrown at us have been like no others in living memory. One thing we know with certainty there will be no going back. This is a truly transformative moment.

One positive from all the stresses and problems we have faced has been our ability to learn in real time and learn fast.

We have all been grappling with how to adapt, but we did so rapidly, changing the way we did things in weeks, sometimes days. And now we are starting to look beyond our most challenging year.

Join us for an interactive session to explore:

    • What the jumping out issues are – led by HQN CEO Alistair McIntosh

    • How we can ensure business resilience in uncertain times  - led by Iron Grip designer Ian Parker

    • What the political drivers will be up to and beyond the Senedd elections in 2021 – led by Keith Edwards

    • How you can shape the agenda to share ideas and practice through the HQN Cymru network.

The sector has to engage with customers as it urgently seeks to decarbonise their homes. As time goes by this will involve increasingly disruptive changes to their lives, eg, losing their known and loved gas boiler! We may have technical solutions and funding lined up for retrofit, but without customer buy in it won’t happen.

    Fully booked

This end of year climate change best practice group will focus on a discussion around this subject, with examples of good practice.

If you have any examples of good practice which you can present please email max.salsbury@hqnetwork.co.uk.

  7. Digital solutions for smaller housing organisations (in association with Gridizen)

    Details

The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted a number of issues in the way social housing providers engage with residents. This has led many to rethink their approach and seek new solutions.

Alongside the ongoing reframing of engagement within the sector, there has also been an increase in the significance of capturing ESG data driven by investors keen to see that their partner organisations are acting ethically and robustly. This has created a challenge of not only HOW we engage, but WHY we engage, and how we can demonstrate its effectiveness.

Many organisations are seeking digital solutions to plug these gaps, but for smaller organisations operating with a limited number of staff on tight budgets, this has not always been an option.

But help is at hand. At this virtual workshop, we will discuss the digital challenges facing smaller housing providers and highlight possible solutions.

Speakers will include PropTech company Gridizen, which has spent over three years working with the housing sector to create a suite of digital tools which can centralise all communication and operational activity.

This includes online rent collection, digital maintenance management, community engagement, resident involvement, document library, dashboard reporting, ESG data collection, smart home integration and more.

To demonstrate Gridizen’s commitment to the Housing sector its Maintenance Management and Community Engagement solutions will be free of charge for the foreseeable future.

This is a must attend for all those who know they need a new digital solution but are not sure where to start.

  8. The Residents’ Network: Building on the White Paper

    Details

Below is a message from our new Associate Elaine Warwick, who is long standing, active member of the Residents' Network and Resident Engagement and Scrutiny Coordinator at bpha:

The world of resident engagement is certainly poised for a huge amount of change. Covid-19 has meant that we have all had to look for different and sometimes innovative ways of continuing to work with our residents. To be fair this is at times as difficult for landlords as it is for the residents. We have a BIG task ahead to deliver the content of the White Paper and the Building Safety Bill. These coupled with recent changes from the Housing Ombudsman mean engagement projects can only increase for us all.

In order to ensure that the Residents' Network is on track to assist, inform and support members through the near future we want to put in place the right programme of sharing good practice and ideas. To make this happen HQN would like to invite you to a round table discussion about the right course for the network which will suit both involved residents and engagement employees. So, if you, like me want to assist in making the Residents' Network work for us then please do join me on Friday 11 December 2020, 10:00-11:15am to share your views and suggestions.

Please note, this session is just for staff members, but we do have a best practice group which is aimed at both staff and residents, available for booking here.
