The group will share learning using serious case and domestic homicide reviews, as well as quality checking policy and procedures and creating safeguarding resources, toolkits and information to help drive up safeguarding standards across the social housing sector.
The group is made up of representatives from WVHT, Muir Group, Great Places, Trafford Housing Trust, Jigsaw, Your Housing and Halton Housing Trust.
Group members bring a wide range of experience and expertise across mental health, social work, domestic abuse, criminal justice, antisocial behaviour and child protection.
Carol Miller, WVHT safeguarding advisor who has led on establishing the group, said: “The social housing sector has a vital part to play in safeguarding to keep residents safe and identify anyone who may be at risk.
"There is a wealth of expertise across the sector and it is important that we work together to look at ways that we can continue to drive up standards. This group aims to be an important resource for the sector, bringing together professionals with a wide range of experience to share learning and best practice.”
