Preventing fraud masterclass
- Type HQN Event (Virtual)
- Venue Virtual masterclass
- Start 08 Dec 2020 10:00
- End 08 Dec 2020 12:30
Public sector and housing fraud are on the rise. This workshop, led by a former local authority Chief Internal Auditor, will help you to prevent frauds and highlight potentially fraudulent activity.
Public bodies including social housing providers need to collectively raise their game and learn from others to tackle fraud more effectively.
That is the verdict of the Auditor General for Wales who says fraudsters have taken advantage of the COVID-19 lockdown with a significant increase in fraudulent activity across the UK and an unprecedented number of scams linked to the virus.
This virtual workshop, presented by Ian Parker, will provide expert guidance on how businesses can protect themselves - preventing fraud and introducing systems that identify fraudulent activity as soon as possible.
As a former Chief Internal Auditor for a local authority, Ian has investigated over 20 different frauds. He will draw on his experience and talk through case studies which provide an insight into how those frauds occurred and the actions you can take to minimise the opportunity for it to happen in the future.
This workshop will:
- Highlight the most common types of fraud in the social housing sector
- Outline what to do if you uncover a fraud
- Set up systems and processes which enable you to take action promptly to prevent fraud from happening or make sure it's highlighted as quickly as possible.
