    Details

Your building can talk to you, do you want to listen to what it can tell you?

Stewart will take you through the wider world of IoT, connected traffic systems, self-regulating buildings, smart energy systems through to IoT technologies that are being adopted today in social housing providers like you. Introduction to Artificial Intelligence and machine learning – The Terminator?

    Details

The machines will replace us, right?

There is a lot of noise about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how its simultaneously the saviour and doom of mankind. This introduction to perhaps one of the singular technologies of the 21st century will not look to answer such an existential question, though it may touch on the ethics of AI. Instead, it will look to explain in simple terms what potential AI has in the world and why it’s something that you should be aware of and understand.

Stewart will attempt to cut the hype out of the conversation with AI and its often-muddled cousin Machine Learning (ML). He will set out where AI and ML are being used in the world today and may also hint at its potential for the future.

If you think we are all destined to live under the boot of the machine or you see a golden future of empathetic intelligences, then this is the introduction to AI & ML for you!

Creating new worlds and augmenting the world around us – An introduction to how you can apply virtual and augmented reality for business benefits

    Details

Virtual and augmented reality are the stuff of sci-fi movies and big-business with millions to spend on gimmicks that attract the headlines but achieve very little, aren’t they? Not necessarily.

In this introductory session, we will introduce the concepts of virtual and augmented reality, step through their recent maturity and democratisation, and look at some of the cost-effective ways to apply this technology in potentially surprising and practical contexts.

We’ll also look at some of their more outrageous and entertaining applications (because why not?!) to give you a sense of the scale and ‘the art of the possible’ when it comes to using VR & AR.

As a result of attending this session, you’ll be able to bridge the gap between the seemingly impossible and the very achievable applications of immersive and augmented technologies, to begin considering how you can take the first steps towards introducing it within your organisation.

Building worlds that don’t exist and augmenting worlds that do – How VR and AR can bring clarity to your customers and efficiency to your operations as a social housing provider

    Details

Having looked at the wider applications of virtual and augmented reality in level 1, in level 2 we’ll be focusing in on the practical applications of VR and AR in housing, property and related services.

Through real life case studies and by sharing good practice insight from housing professionals and technologists working within the sector and sectors with similar use cases for immersive and augmented technologies, we will aim to answer the ‘why’, ‘what’ and ‘how’ of applying VR & AR in a housing context.

As a result of attending this session, you should be able to begin forming use-cases for applying virtual and augmented reality within your organisations, and some practical examples to inspire and inform your own project ideas, with a view to begin building your business case.

This IoT stuff...I think it’s for us!”

    Details

Your building can talk to you, how do I understand what it’s telling me?

So, you probably know your LoRAWANs from your SigFoxs. You might be getting down with the ZigBees of this world, but just need another gentle nudge towards utilising IoT tech in your organisation

Did you know there are your peers out there harnessing the potential of IoT technologies to change the way they deliver their services, mining a wealth of data to inform the future of their housing provision?

Stewart overloaded your brain with the dizzying array of IoT technologies and how those technologies are being adapted and used in the world of 2021, this session will hone in on use cases that are housing specific and geared towards social landlords.

Do I adopt a ‘Do-it-yourself' approach to IoT or just go prêt-à-porter? Hear from those who have dived into a world where they pick and choose what systems and technologies they use to suppliers and businesses who have specific products and platforms to make the adoption of IoT a little bit simpler.

If you need some ideas about how IoT could be adopted in your organisation but aren't quite at the business case stage yet, this is the seminar for you.

Ask Alexa! – Could your housing officer be a robot

    Details

Okay so your savvy enough not to be sold on the hype around AI and ML, but you do see the potential for real benefits in utilising the technology in your organisation.

This seminar will see suppliers from emerging start-ups to more established players, talking about what products they have and will be looking to develop in this space, but more importantly you will hear about how housing providers are harnessing this emerging tech for the good of their tenants and their organisation.

Stewart will once again look to inform and educate you, arming you with the knowledge to begin planning on the how, what and why of AI and ML in your own organisation. It may not prevent Skynet taking over the world but at least being forewarned is forearmed right?
